As nourishing and delicious food can be, it can also be the trigger for different health issues.

For those who are suffering from IBS, migraines, or other health conditions you suspect may be related to food, I can help you uncover possible triggers through food sensitivity testing and individualized nutrition therapy.

A food sensitivity is a type of immune reaction to specific foods or food chemicals. It causes immune cells to release inflammatory chemicals called mediators when the food is eaten. These chemical mediators are the direct cause of symptoms, including pain, fatigue and inflammation. Because symptoms can show up hour, or even days, after eating a food you are sensitive to, it can be very difficult to identify it on your own.

Because these inflammatory compounds can have an effect all over the body, there are many conditions associated with food sensitivities:

  • IBS
  • Reflux
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Migraines
  • PCOS
  • Inflammatory arthritis
  • Celiac disease
  • Hashimoto’s and other thyroid conditions
  • Chronic rhinitis and sinusitis
  • Skin conditions, like psoriasis, acne or eczema
  • Other autoimmune diseases

How does it work?

Before getting tested, we will complete an in-depth screening of your symptoms to determine the likelihood of your symptoms being related to sensitivities.

If necessary, you will complete the Mediator Release Test (MRT), the gold standard in food sensitivity testing with the highest degree of accuracy (~95%). MRT is a blood test which examines your reaction to 150 different foods and food chemicals. The test works by measuring the amount of mediators (inflammatory compounds) that are released after exposure to food antigens.

Once you receive your MRT results, we will develop an individualized eating plan based on your results called the LEAP Diet.

Implemented in five phases over ~60-90 days, we start by limiting your diet to the least reactive foods and gradually adding in untested foods. The goal of LEAP is to help you get to normal, unrestricted eating while helping you identify exactly which foods trigger your symptoms. The most restrictive part, Phase 1, usually lasts about 2 weeks. It can be difficult, but I will be with you every step of the way to ensure you know how to create balanced, tasty meals.

Let's set up a 30 minute introductory session to assess the likelihood of your health concerns being related to food sensitivities. Have your questions answered about the process and learn about other options that may be appropriate. The fee is just $35, which will go towards the price of testing if you decide to proceed.
